Anthony is a musician with a passion for music and in 2016, through his dedication and research, he was able to bring one of Rock & Roll’s great untold stories to the public in his highly acclaimed book, ‘From a Storm to a Hurricane’ which follows the career and lives of the Liverpool band, Rory Storm & The Hurricanes’.

His determination to bring forward the stories of a number of Merseyside performers resulted in the 2017 publication of his third book, ‘The Beat Makers – The Unsung Heroes of the Mersey Sound’ where he introduces a number of people who have, sadly, had very little written about them before, while expanding the stories of a few better-known characters.

Anthony Hogan is a historian whose avid dedication to recording the events of the two World Wars resulted in the creation of the hugely popular website, ‘Liverpool and Merseyside Remembered’. He has also worked alongside the BBC, as well as local and national newspapers, to compile wartime news items. He was involved in the research and filming of the wartime special edition of the BBC’s ‘Antiques Roadshow’, which was filmed at the site of the Somme, in France. This work led to the publication of Anthony’s first book ‘Merseyside At War’ in 2015 and which has become part of the History curriculum at one Merseyside School. He was part of the research team for the BCC Radio programme ‘Merseyside Blitz’ which won an award at the 2016 National Radio Academy Awards. Anthony also worked with the BBC team of researchers for the TV programme ‘Blitz Cities’.

Anthony has also dabbled with self-published Kindle books. Whilst he was experimenting into how this type of format worked and perceived, it led to him producing a short story of his life with obsessive compulsive behaviour under the title 'My Life In A Bubble - 40 Years Living with Undiagnosed OCD'. This piece of work continues to draw praise from those involved in any way with mental health, for its openness towards such a difficult subject. Three separate publishing companies have contacted Anthony in regards to publishing a full and more detailed account of his story, although he is unsure if that is a route he is willing to take. He remains an avid supporter of mental health awareness, especially in regards to OCD and Autism.

History and music remain his passions, and none more so than when they concentrate upon his home county of Merseyside. Anthony is currently working on a number of projects and another book is in the pipeline. As all authors do, he will provide details of them when the time is right.
